6th of December N.N. from Kainuu region (Northern Finland) filed her declaration of refusal from military service, having served 11 months in the military and reached rank of a corporal. In Finland, military service is voluntary for women, but during military service her views of the service changed, as in army she made a conclusion that army is based on physical and psychological violence, degradation and limiting free speech. Most likely she will receive a prison sentence equal to 1/2 of the length of her remaining service, that is two weeks. En Garde! Challenge the WKR-Ball!
Against the Extreme Right Dancing Event in the Former Imperial Palace, the Hofburg
An annual event…
On January 29, 2010 the 57th annual Ball of the „Wiener
Korporationsring“ (WKR) will take place in the Hofburg, the former
imperial palace. Over twenty local „fraternities“* are organized within
the WKR, which fall into a political spectrum ranging from
„national-libertarian“, folk-German nationalist to openly extreme
right. The most well-known member of the WKR is at this point in time
most certainly the fraternity Olympia, whose „Good Old Boy“ Martin Graf
scandalously holds the office of third „Speaker of Parliament“. Olympia
demonstrates very clearly the function of German nationalist
fraternities as a place forging a bond between the FPÖ (Freedom Party
of Austria)** on the one hand and neo-nazism on the other. Thus you can
find members of Olympia representing the FPÖ in the local and national
parliaments as well as in the party leadership at the district and
state level. At the same time, Olympia has invited various neonazi
singers as well as the Holocaust-denier David Irving to their clubhouse
over the past several years. Besides this, Olympia continually makes
racist, anti-semitic, and NS-relativising statements.

I.W.A Statement on the situation of the Six of Belgrade prisoners. The XXIV Congress of the International Workers Association held in Porto Alegre, Brasil on the 4th, 5th and 6th of Decembre 2009 denounces the injustice and irregularities of the arrests made on August 2009 against six comrades, four of them members of the International Workers Association. The International Workers Association unconditionally supports the six comrades against repression, slanderous claims, the irregular legal situation and the false accusation of International Terrorism. They are unjustly locked up for more than 3 months now in Belgrade Central Prison, accused without proofs of a serious crime, with incalculable repressive consequences for humanity. The International Workers Association denounces in this declaration the explicit aggression against workers who call for freedom and struggle against oppression and exploitation of the people of the world. We demand immediate and unconditional release of the Six of Belgrade.
