Squat Wars – new DIY documentary on Prague squating scene

A new short documentary on a Prague squatting scene is going to be released at
December, 13th. Document was done in a DIY way and is released under Creative
Commons license, allowing free screening and sharing. It's name is Squat Wars.
Film is focused on history of two most known Czech squats, Ladronka (evicted in
2000) and Milada (evicted this summer) plus predecessor of the latter, squat
Zenklovka. The history is mapped through interviews with former inhabitants and
archive materials (photos, videos).
Author of the documentary announced that he wouldn’t release it for the internet for
a couple of weeks or months. He would only do public screenings in an attempt to
make people come together, discuss and maybe meet new people with similar ideas
instead of consuming a movie in atomized anonymity in front of computer screen,.
Everybody who would like to do a screening in his/her town is encouraged to write to
the author e-mail: jan.hanus (at) safe-mail.net. The plan is that those doing
screenings would receive a copy of the movie in exchange for a promise not to
release it on the internet.
The movie is provided with English subtitles and is 27 minutes long.
