„Griechenland ist nicht nur ökonomisch, sondern auch politisch der wichtigste Brandherd der neuen Finanzkrise, die insbesondere die Europäische Währungsunion getroffen und das Projekt der Gemeinschaftswährung als Kern einer imperialistischen Macht EU ernsthaft in Frage gestellt hat. Allem Gerede von der Alternativlosigkeit der von der sozialdemokratischen PASOK-Regierung auf Weisung aus Brüssel und der Chefetage des IWF eingeleiteten Austeritätspolitik zum Trotz, bekämpft ein Großteil der Bevölkerung den brutalen Sparkurs, mit dem die Masse der Lohnabhängigen einmal mehr zum Wohle der ausländischen Banken und der einheimischen Bourgeoisie geschröpft werden soll. Angesichts der noch immer mageren internationalen Solidarität und ebenso übler wie erfolgreicher Hetzkampagnen der „BILD“-Zeitung gegen „die Pleitegriechen“ und „ihre Luxusrenten“ etc. verdient der anhaltende Widerstand in Athen, Piräus, Saloniki, Kreta… allerhöchsten Respekt und jede erdenkliche Unterstützung. Es ist keine Neuigkeit, dass in vielen osteuropäischen Ländern (staatliche) Diskriminierung von Menschen aufgrund ihrer sexuellen Identität an der Tagesordnung ist. Hier nun einige Bemerkungen von Amnesty International zum Thema:
Europa
In einigen Ländern beförderten die Behörden ein Klima der Intoleranz gegenüber sexuellen Minderheiten. Den Betroffenen wurde es so noch schwerer gemacht, die Stimme zu erheben und ihre Rechte einzufordern.

Following the anti-Frontex conference in Warsaw on May 22, there were a number of small actions against the agency. Amidst rather strict secrecy and security, on May 24, Frontex started their conference in Warsaw. A few activists managed to get to the registration point and make some noise.

On May 23, around 10:00 am, during a routine control of shoe and clothing dealers- deemed “business criminals” by the authorities- at Warsaw’s main market, non-uniformed police officers brutally arrested one of the sellers. Witnesses of the arrest, surprised by the unusual level of police violence, began calling on officers to regain calm. In reaction, one of the officers fired at 36 year-old Maxwell Itoya, a Pole of Nigerian origin, killing him on the spot. The police officer did not fire a warning shot in the air and the killing occurred in breach of legal procedure. All evidence reveals that Max did not provoke this radical act; he was not aggressive, rather, he called for peace and calm. The solidarity that Max showed towards his friends was answered by a lethal shot fired by a member of the police in his direction. […]

Am Sonntag den 23. Mai haben polnische Polizisten bei einer Straßenrazzia gegen MigrantInnen in Warschau einen 36-jährigen in den Bauch geschossen und ermordet. Daraufhin kam es zu gewalttätigen Reaktionen gegen die Polizei. Diese wurde angegriffen, vier Polizeifahrzeuge zerstört und später 32 Protestierende verhaftet.

On
24th of April at 2 PM by the St. Roch church there was supposed to
benan anti-fascist demonstration. The increased activity of police
wasnobserved in the city from the early morning hours. Around noon the
groups of fascists started to cruise around the streets of the city.
About 1 PM fascists gathered in the group of approximately 30-40
persons at the assembly point of the demonstration.
Some of them were chased away by the anti-fascists
whilst those who tried to hide in the neighboring blocks of flats were
detained by the police. By each of detained fascists police found at
least one knife!!! It is worth mentioning here that the local
neo-fascists are well known for using knifes while attacking
foreigners, anti-fascists and football fans. A young supporter of
Jagiellonia Białystok – Adrian who had been murdered a few years ago
may be an example.
